Hello Friends!! The Intercultural Club welcomes 218 new international students this fall and has set up to help them integrate into Lindenwood’s community. The club offers support for internationals but also excitement for anyone interested in getting to know different cultures. “The goal is to get the international students more integrated with the American students,” said Ray Scupin, professor of anthropology and sociology at LU and new faculty sponsor of the Intercultural Club. “As a faculty sponsor, I want to try to stimulate students, internationals and Americans, to help implement the goals of the club.” The club meets every Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in Spellmann Center, Room 4095, to help internationals with problems and to discuss intercultural events and activities. Lindenwood University has a large international community with approximately 650 people from 80 countries. Every spring semester LU students have the possibility to try foreign foods and learn about those different cultures at the International DAY. Last (2007) fall the festival was on Nov. 16, according to Giang Ha Tran, 20, Vice President of the club. “This fall the Intercultural Club peps up every second weekend with movies and games, starting from Sept. 8,” said Tran, who is an international student from Germany. Game nights were held on Saturdays and movie nights on Sundays, each from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the Loft of Butler Hall.
